In a couple of days the Augmented Reality conference ISMAR 2014 will open its doors in my beautiful hometown Munich. The committee summarizes the objectives of this exciting international conference as follows:
“Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) melt the barriers between virtual media, the physical world and our imagination by enriching our ability to interact with all three. New applications in diverse areas such as Engineering, Entertainment, Arts, Education Media and Humanities push the boundaries of science and technology. As the premier conference in the field, ISMAR is responding to this evolution by expanding the program scope.”
Next to the founder member of the International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) Prof. Gudrun Klinker, Prof. Nassir Navab will be part of the General Chair. Prof. Nassir Navab has a long research history in Augmented Reality to be applied in the clinical field and will definitively give ISMAR 2014 a medical flavor.
Medical highlights will be the keynote talk of Terry Peters about The Role of Augmented Reality Displays for Guiding Intra-cardiac Interventions and the full day tutorial A ‚Look Into‘ Medical Augmented Reality with keynote talks of Prof. Henry Fuchs, Prof. Nassir Navab, Dr. Bernhard Kainz, Prof. Roy Eagleson and two clinical keynote talks of Dr. med. Simon Weidert and Dr. med Sandrine de Ribaupierre.
